At AdoptionGoldenRetriever.com, we are committed to providing healthy, happy, and well-socialized Golden Retriever puppies. To ensure transparency and peace of mind, we offer the following Genetic Health Guarantee for every puppy adopted through us.
Veterinary Examination Requirement
We take every measure to ensure that each puppy is healthy at the time of adoption. To uphold this guarantee, we request that the buyer takes their puppy to a licensed veterinarian within three (3) days of possession. Failure to complete this vet check within the specified timeframe will void this agreement, as we cannot control the puppy’s environment after it leaves our care.
General Agreements
- Any refund will never exceed the original purchase price of the puppy.
- The buyer is responsible for all transportation costs for both the original puppy and any replacement puppy.
- If a puppy is returned, the buyer must return all AKC registration papers, vaccination records, and veterinary paperwork with the dog.
- We do not guarantee the puppy’s size, color, or temperament after adoption.
- The buyer assumes full responsibility for all veterinary care and associated costs after adoption.
- If, at any point during the puppy’s life, the buyer is unable to provide proper care, they agree to contact us for assistance in rehoming the puppy or returning it to us. No refunds will be issued for returns based on buyer regret, allergy issues, lifestyle changes, or employment changes.
Communicable Disease Guarantee
If the puppy dies from a communicable disease (excluding parasites or hypoglycemia) within 14 days of purchase, and the buyer promptly sought treatment from a licensed veterinarian, we will provide a full refund of the purchase price. The buyer must present a written statement from the veterinarian certifying that the disease was contracted before the puppy left our care. Refunds will be issued within 45 days of receiving the veterinary certification or an autopsy report.
Note on Parasites
Puppies have developing immune systems and may be vulnerable to internal parasites (e.g., worms, giardia, or coccidiosis), especially under stress. Despite our strict parasite prevention protocols, stress factors such as relocation, dietary changes, and handling can trigger temporary parasite issues. These conditions are treatable and are not valid reasons for a return or exchange.
Genetic Health Guarantee
We provide a 24-month (2-year) genetic health guarantee against serious life-altering congenital diseases or genetic defects.
Hip & Elbow Dysplasia Guarantee
Golden Retrievers are genetically predisposed to hip and elbow dysplasia, a condition influenced by growth rate, exercise, weight management, and nutrition. To qualify for this guarantee:
- The buyer must provide official documentation from PennHIP or OFA confirming a diagnosis of moderate to severe hip or elbow dysplasia.
- This guarantee becomes void if the dog is allowed to become overweight or experiences excessive joint stress during the warranty period.
If a qualifying genetic health issue is diagnosed, the buyer must provide all veterinary records, x-rays, and supporting documentation. We reserve the right to have the dog evaluated by a specialist (at our expense) before issuing a refund or replacement puppy.
